About ten minutes, mostly on Broad Street. Tioga sits north-west of us above Allegheny Avenue, roughly two and a half miles out. Chip fills are $60 to $130 and half an hour, a windshield is $250 to $450 fitted, and side, quarter and back glass is $200 to $500 and usually same day. We are at 3115 Germantown Avenue, open 7:30 to 4:00 Monday to Friday. Call 215-608-1108.

Tioga has better housing stock than the neighbourhoods below it, with porch-front twins, wide streets and some genuinely handsome blocks, plus a bit more room to park, though almost all of that parking is still at the kerb. What makes it different from Allegheny West next door is the volume of traffic passing through. Erie Avenue and Venango Street feed Broad Street, Broad feeds Roosevelt Boulevard, and the Boulevard starts just up the road and immediately turns into twelve lanes of the worst road surface anywhere near here.
That proximity shows up in the work. A large share of the windshields we replace for Tioga drivers were damaged on the Boulevard rather than at home: a stone off a truck in the outer lanes, unheard at the time, found as a star the following week. The neighbourhood also parks a lot of hospital traffic, which means cars standing unattended through a night shift on quiet blocks. Between the two, we see roughly equal numbers of Boulevard chips and broken door glass from Tioga. Both are cheaper handled quickly: $60 to $130 for a fill, $200 to $500 for a door window fitted. 215-608-1108.
Broad Street runs down the eastern side of the neighbourhood and everything funnels onto it. Erie Avenue and Venango Street are the crosstown roads, both busy and both patched. Tioga Street itself runs west across the numbered streets toward Nineteenth and Twenty-second. Roosevelt Boulevard begins where Broad meets Hunting Park just to the north, splitting immediately into inner and outer roadways with the lane changes and merges that go with them. Germantown Avenue crosses Broad at Erie, which is the junction most Tioga drivers use to get onto our road. The residential streets are wider here than further south, with porches set back and parking on both sides, but off-street spaces are still the exception rather than the rule.
“I had a great experience with this glass replacement company. They were quick & very professional throughout the process, and the pricing was extremely reasonable compared to others I contacted. The work was done efficiently and the quality was top-notch. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for affordable and reliable glass repair or replacement!”
One: the Boulevard. Twelve lanes, concrete patched with asphalt, heavy truck use and traffic moving at very different speeds in adjacent lanes make it the single most productive source of windshield chips in this part of the city, and Tioga drivers use it daily. Two: Erie Avenue and Broad Street stone, the same mechanism at lower speed but at much closer quarters. Three: overnight break-ins on the blocks that empty out at night, including those taking hospital shift parking. Four: temperature swings on cars kept outside all year, which is what turns a chip collected on the Boulevard in October into a crack across the screen on the first hard frost.
Broad Street south is the simple route. From anywhere in Tioga, get down to Broad, head south past Erie Avenue to Allegheny Avenue, turn east and go about half a mile to where Germantown Avenue crosses on the diagonal. We are at 3115, just below Allegheny. Ten minutes on a normal morning. The alternative, and it is a good one if Broad is heavy, is to pick up Germantown Avenue at the Broad and Erie junction and follow the Avenue south-east straight to the door. Ring 215-608-1108 with the year, make and model before you leave and we will have the glass out ready.
James E Linus Sons Inc works across North Philadelphia and the surrounding towns — pick your neighborhood:
Less time than you think, and the reason is the Boulevard itself. Every expansion joint and patch on that road flexes the screen, and a fresh star that would sit quietly on smooth tarmac spreads fast under repeated flexing. Get it filled while the break is clean: $60 to $130, about half an hour, and you keep the factory seal the car was built with. Once the crack reaches the edge of the glass or crosses your line of sight, repair is off the table and you are looking at $250 to $450.
If the car has a forward-facing camera behind the mirror for lane keeping or automatic braking, then yes, that system aims through the glass and it has to be reset after a replacement. Tell us the year, make and model when you call 215-608-1108 and we will tell you what your specific car needs and what it means for the price and the time. It is not a question to leave until the old screen is already out.
Yes, and for most people that is the easiest way to do it. Drop it any time from 7:30 and collect before we close at 4:00, Monday to Friday. If your shift finishes later than that, say so when you book and we will work the drop and collection out around it rather than leaving you stuck. We do not open Saturday or Sunday, so a weekend plan does not work here.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
