About ten minutes and two miles down Germantown Avenue. Nicetown sits between us and Wayne Junction, so it is one of the closest neighbourhoods we serve and one of the easiest to reach. A smashed side window is $200 to $500 fitted and normally done the same day. Windshields are $250 to $450, chip fills $60 to $130 and half an hour. Find us at 3115 Germantown Avenue; the number is 215-608-1108.

Nicetown is built around a rail junction and it still behaves like one. Wayne Junction is where several lines converge, and the stone viaducts, steel bridges and embankments that carry them cut the neighbourhood into pieces. You cannot drive far here without going under a bridge, and the underpasses collect everything: grit off the ballast above, standing water, and a road surface that is always the worst fifty yards on the street. Cars that live here take that surface every day.
The other thing is that this is still a working corridor. Hunting Park Avenue and the yards off it move trucks and vans all day, plenty of them loaded, and a lot of the vehicles we do glass for from Nicetown are work vehicles rather than family cars. A van with a starred screen that still has to be out at six. A pickup with a rear slider somebody put through. Those we try hard to turn round the same day, because a work vehicle sitting on the block is money. Ring 215-608-1108 with the make, model and year and we will tell you straight away whether the glass is here or coming in tomorrow. The shop is two miles down the same avenue you already drive.
Germantown Avenue runs the length of the neighbourhood on the diagonal and Hunting Park Avenue crosses it, which makes that junction the busiest thing here and the place most of the traffic backs up. Wayne Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue head north-west toward Germantown proper. Roberts Avenue climbs west toward the Boulevard. The rail bridges are the landmarks: the viaduct at Wayne Junction, the low steel spans over Germantown Avenue and the crossings by the old works on Windrim Avenue, all of them with a dip in the road before and after where the surface has settled around the abutments. Parking is kerbside on the rowhouse streets, with yards, lots and loading bays on the industrial blocks that fill and empty through the working day.
“I had a great experience with this glass replacement company. They were quick & very professional throughout the process, and the pricing was extremely reasonable compared to others I contacted. The work was done efficiently and the quality was top-notch. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for affordable and reliable glass repair or replacement!”
One: the underpasses. Every rail bridge here has a settled dip on each side of it, and the road under is where grit, ballast stone and broken glass collect. Hitting that dip at speed with a chipped windshield is a reliable way to turn the chip into a crack. Two: loaded trucks on Hunting Park Avenue and the yard roads, because stone thrown off a working vehicle carries more force than anything a car will throw at you. Three: work vehicles taking work-vehicle abuse, with ladders, pipe, scaffold poles and sheet material going in and out past the glass every day, which is why we replace more van and pickup side glass here than anywhere else. Four: overnight break-ins on the quieter residential blocks, especially where a street dead-ends at the railway and nobody passes after dark.
Two miles, one road. Come down Germantown Avenue from the Hunting Park Avenue junction, through the Erie Avenue crossing at Broad, and keep going south-east. We are at 3115 on the 3100 block, just past Allegheny Avenue. Ten minutes on a normal morning. If Germantown Avenue is snarled at Hunting Park, take Roberts Avenue or Wingohocking east to Broad Street, run south on Broad to Allegheny, then east about half a mile and turn onto the Avenue. Vans and pickups are fine on the street outside while we work. Call 215-608-1108 before you leave so the glass is out and ready when you pull up.

Yes, and we do a lot of it from Nicetown. Van windshields, door glass, quarter lights and rear sliders on pickups are all normal work here. The main difference is availability: a common car windshield is often on the shelf, while a specific commercial van screen may be a next-day order. Ring 215-608-1108 with the year, make, model and body type and we will check before you drive over. Pricing follows the same ranges, $250 to $450 for a screen and $200 to $500 for side or rear glass.
Usually yes, if you get it filled early. A resin fill bonds the glass back together and stops the crack having anywhere to run, and once cured it is as strong across that point as the rest of the screen. What it will not do is fix a chip you have been driving on for six months, where dirt and water are already down inside the break. Come in while it is fresh, spend $60 to $130 and half an hour, and you avoid $250 to $450.
We open at 7:30 and the first hour of the day is the best time to arrive if you want the car back the same day. Monday to Friday only; we are closed Saturday and Sunday. If you work early yourself and need the vehicle back before the end of your shift, say so when you book. For a straightforward side window we can often have it done inside two hours.
