$200 to $500 for side, quarter or back glass and $250 to $450 for a windshield, fitted where the car stands and priced the same as the bay. Swampoodle is some of the easiest mobile ground in our whole area, because these blocks carry almost no through traffic: nobody drives down them unless they are going to a house on them, which is exactly what an outdoor glass job wants.

Most of what makes kerbside fitting difficult is other people's movement. A lane of traffic passing a foot from an open bodyshell is unsafe, it kicks up dust onto a primed bonding surface, and it forces the work to be hurried. Take that away and an outdoor windshield becomes a genuinely good job: the van parks alongside, the doors open properly, the pane can be laid on a stand rather than juggled, and the bead goes down without anybody watching the mirror. A neighbourhood boxed in by rail with only a few ways in has very little idle traffic on its residential blocks in the middle of a weekday, which is why the van goes out to these streets more readily than to most.
The two things we still need are room and weather. Room means the car standing where both front corners are reachable, not wedged between two vehicles at a corner. Weather means the honest conversation about urethane: it cures with moisture from the air, so temperature and humidity set the real safe drive-away time, and on a raw day that number can be several times what it would be indoors. Side and rear glass is far less sensitive and goes out in most conditions. On a bonded windshield we will either give you the true longer waiting time or suggest the seven-minute drive to Germantown Avenue, and which of those we recommend depends on the forecast rather than on what is convenient.
“Excellent job and great professional service. Dropped my car off 8am and it was done within two hours. Pricing for my window replacement was the most reasonable in the city of Philadelphia. Highly recommend.”

The one thing to check before booking a Swampoodle mobile job is the end of your block. Several of these streets stop dead against a rail embankment or a bridge abutment, which is excellent for peace and quiet and occasionally awkward for a van that needs to turn round with glass on board. It is never a reason not to come, it is a reason to know in advance. Tell us the street, roughly where on it the car sits, and whether the closed end is at the top or the bottom. The other local detail worth mentioning is grit: the approaches to the underpasses carry loose stone, so on a windy day we position the van as a shield and keep the aperture covered until the pane is ready to be set.

Almost always, and it is one of the better spots to work in because nothing is passing. What helps is telling us in advance which end is closed and whether there is anywhere to turn, since the van carries glass and reversing a long way with a windshield on board is not ideal. If the street is genuinely too tight, we will usually ask you to move the car to the corner or the wider end of the block, which is a thirty-second job rather than a rebooking.
No, and it is better to say so plainly than to take the booking. We are open 7:30 to 4 Monday to Friday and closed at the weekend, and the van runs on the same hours. What that does mean is an early weekday start is genuinely available: if you can leave the car at home or at work on a weekday morning, we can be at it not long after 7:30 and it is finished before most people have had lunch. For a weekend break-in, sheet the opening up and ring first thing Monday.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
